Help prevent illegal dumping and trash burning in Vermont
The state of Vermont defines illegal dumping as the unlawful disposal of refuse (e.g. tires, furniture, household trash, appliances) on land within 300 feet of public or private property. There are health risks, economic costs, and environmental tolls of illegal dumping that impact all of us. Illegal dumping and roadside litter is a serious problem that costs our region thousands of dollars annually. Report an illegal dump site to your town official or contact Vermont Agency of Natural Resources or download a complaint form from Vermont ANR and fax your complaint to them. It is illegal to burn trash in Vermont.Burning trash can cause serious respiratory and other health problems. Report trash burning to your town's fire warden. Also download a complaint form from Vermont ANR and fax your complaint to them. For more information about what you can do, visit the Don't Burn Vermont web site
